Use this series when you need a helical-flute PCD end mill for aluminum walls and slots—shear-style engagement and cleaner finish on vertical surfaces—not eccentric scroll-path machining.

Failure-mode framing vs scroll: helical quotes usually start from chatter on thin walls, harsh entry marks, or smear on long axial engagement. Scroll quotes start from progressive wrap geometry and pocket chip packing. If your print is a compressor scroll path, open the scroll end mill page instead of forcing a helical blank.

Finish on vertical walls—what to describe

Helical flute layout is a response to how the edge meets the wall—not a marketing synonym for “better end mill.” Describe smear bands, steps at Z-levels, entry scars at the top of the wall, and whether the opposite wall looks cleaner. That story guides helix and edge review; we do not publish fake Ra or helix-angle standards here.

  1. Feature: wall, open slot, or pocket side (with thickness if thin-wall)
  2. Diameter, length of cut, corner break / radius requirement
  3. Current helix / flute count if replacing a tool; photos of entry marks help

Helical flute vs scroll / square FAQ

Is helical always better than square PCD?

No. Helical helps shear engagement and wall finish; square series is enough when walls are stiff and corner shape is the only requirement.

Should I order helical for a scroll compressor plate?

Usually no—use the scroll series when the feature is a progressive wrap path. Helical is for walls/slots, not eccentric scroll pockets.

Do you list a standard helix angle here?

No fake catalog angles. Helix is reviewed with your wall height, machine, and finish complaint.

What failure modes differ from scroll tooling?

Helical: entry shock, thin-wall chatter, vertical smear. Scroll: wrap tracking, pocket chip pack, floor transitions along the progressive path.

Wall finish or entry marks to show?
