Porosity, cross-drills, and stainless stringers turn a tap into a welded scrap event. A solid carbide thread mill recovers the form with helical interpolation so a dead flute leaves the blank instead of seizing it. Start from the breakage cascade—not from abrasive Al crest polish.

Breakage cascade
- Tap binds at a cross-drill or porosity pocket
- Torque spike snaps the shank inside the boss
